Accuracy of gears

Release time:2024-06-20

Gears are mechanical elements that transmit power and rotation. The main performance requirements for gears are:

Greater power transmission capacity

Use as small a gear as possible

Low noise

Correctness

In order to satisfy the above-described requirements, it is a problem to be solved to improve the accuracy of the gear.

1) Classification of gear accuracy

The accuracy of gears can be roughly divided into three categories:

a) Accuracy of involute tooth profile-tooth profile accuracy

B) Accuracy of tooth line on tooth surface-tooth line accuracy

c) Accuracy of tooth/slot position

Tooth indexing accuracy-single pitch accuracy

Accuracy of tooth pitch-cumulative tooth pitch accuracy

Deviation of the radial position of the measuring ball clamped on two gears-radial runout accuracy

2) Tooth profile error

3) Tooth line error

4) Pitch error

The pitch value is measured on the measurement circumference centered on the gear shaft.

Single pitch deviation (fpt) The difference between the actual pitch and the theoretical pitch.

The cumulative total deviation of tooth pitch (Fp) is evaluated by measuring the tooth pitch deviation of the whole gear. The total amplitude value of the cumulative pitch deviation curve is the total pitch deviation.

5) Radial runout (Fr)

Place the probe (spherical, cylindrical) in the tooth groove one after the other, and measure the difference between the large and small radial distances from the probe to the gear axis. The eccentricity of the gear shaft is a fraction of the radial run-out.

6) Total radial composite deviation (Fi ")

So far, the tooth profile, tooth pitch, tooth line accuracy, etc. we have described are all methods for evaluating the accuracy of the gear unit. On the other hand, there is also a two-tooth surface meshing test method for evaluating the accuracy of the gear after the gear is meshed with the measuring gear. The left and right tooth surfaces of the tested gear are in contact and mesh with the measuring gear and rotate for a whole cycle. The change in center distance was recorded. The following figure shows the test results of a gear with 30 teeth. There are 30 wavy lines for the radial comprehensive deviation of a single tooth. The total radial deviation value is approximately the sum of the radial runout deviation and the single-tooth radial deviation.

7) Correlation between various accuracy of gears

The accuracy of each part of the gear is related, in general, the radial runout and other error correlation is strong, the correlation between the various pitch error is also very strong.
